Capital Police to Integrate Surveillance Cameras with National Database for Suspect Identification

In a major move to enhance security, the capital”s police force will link Safe City surveillance data with NADRA”s national database for the rapid identification of suspicious individuals, following a high-level meeting chaired by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.

According to a police report today, the security summit, held at the Central Police Office, included senior officials such as DIG Security Muhammad Ateeq Tahir and DIG Law and Order/Training Malik Jameel Zafar. The attendees conducted a comprehensive assessment of the overall law and order situation, counter-terrorism strategies, and security protocols for government buildings, embassies, and public areas.

IGP Rizvi instructed officers to reinforce security checks at all city entry and exit points and to escalate intelligence-driven search operations. He stressed the importance of closely monitoring suspicious persons and activities and called for improved intelligence gathering on illegal residents and criminal elements to enable prompt action.

The police chief also underscored the necessity for effective information sharing and collaboration with other security and intelligence agencies to create a unified security front.

“Maintaining peace and order in the federal capital is the top priority of the police,” stated the IGP, reaffirming that no compromise will be made on the safety of citizens’ lives and property.

In a subsequent session, the IG met with officials from Safe City Islamabad and NADRA to deliberate on measures for enhancing public safety. Discussions centered on the effective application of modern technology, streamlined data-sharing systems, and the advancement of smart policing initiatives.

Senior police officers were directed to make the information-sharing mechanism with NADRA more efficient and to leverage the agency”s technical support to improve citizen facilitation services.

IGP Rizvi noted that effective coordination among the Police, NADRA, and Safe City Islamabad would not only strengthen the overall security framework but also significantly improve public service delivery. He urged his officers to execute their duties with professionalism and a spirit of public service to ensure Islamabad remains the safest capital city.
