Authorities are intensifying surveillance across the capital, implementing 24/7 monitoring of all entry, exit, and internal points to preemptively tackle criminal activity and track suspicious individuals, officials confirmed.
According to a report today, the directive to bolster the city”s security framework came during a high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Safe City/Traffic, Muhammad Haroon Joiya. The session was held following special instructions from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.
DIG Joiya stated that the enhanced surveillance system, utilizing a network of Safe City cameras, is being further strengthened to ensure the timely elimination of crime. All vehicles entering the city are now under close observation.
In addition to security enhancements, law enforcement personnel were directed to take every possible measure to maintain the smooth flow of traffic and ensure the strict enforcement of highway laws. Officers were also reminded to behave courteously with the public.
The meeting was attended by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Hamza Humayun, SP Traffic Majid Iqbal, Director IT Atif Abbas, and Assistant Director Safe City Abbas Mehdi. Zonal DSPs were specifically instructed to make every possible effort to maintain traffic order within their respective jurisdictions.
Authorities are also encouraging public cooperation in crime prevention. Citizens have been requested to report any suspicious activity immediately through the ‘Pukar-15’ helpline or the One-Info App to aid in the swift eradication of criminal elements.
