Diabetic Laboratory inaugurated at CMCH

LARKANA: A Diabetic Laboratory was jointly inaugurated by District Council Chairman Khan Mohammad Sangroo and Vice-Chancellor (VC) Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) Prof Ghulam Asghar Channa, here on Friday. The lab has been established at Diabetic Ward of Chandka Medical College Hospital’s Teaching Block.

Addressing the ceremony, VC said that the affected patients would be able to receive all treatment and test facilities under one roof and the diabetic patients would not go from one place to another for tests. He said all tests would be conducted free of cost. He said without a better hospital, the medical university is always incomplete.

Prof Hakim Abro said that all costly tests would be made without any charge as the same had been established with the cooperation of district council Larkana on self-help basis. He said so far, 3200 diabetic patients had been registered in the diabetic ward where outpatients department also conduct twice a week service, adding all affected patients were given free of cost required drugs and even type-2 hepatitis children were given free insulin injections.

He said: “All this is done purely on self-help basis. CMCH Medical Superintendent Dr. Ali Gohar Dahri said that after his posting as MS, he took notice of the shabby condition of the hospital buildings and had sent a summary to the Sindh government to carry out repair works. He hoped that work will soon be started. Dr. Dahri said that more labor halls would be built in Shaikh Zayed Hospital for Women to cater to the ever-increasing rush of female patients. He said: “We will try to make the hospital up to the standard of the university hospital and if professors cooperated CMCH will become a unique hospital of upper Sindh where no patient will get medicines from outside. it is our prime responsibility to give all medication to the indoor and outdoor patients with all facilities.

CMC Principal Prof. K Das, Khan Mohammad Sangroo and Dr. Azizullah Jalbani also addressed the gathering.

COAS: (APSACS students presented excellence awards by COAS)

Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa presented Academic Excellence Awards to the students of Army Public Schools and College System (APSACS) here on Friday.

The students have distinguished themselves in Secondary School Certificate and Higher Secondary School Certificate Exams of Federal Board.

Army Chief on this occasion reaffirming commitment to education said that we will do our best to provide whole hearted support towards improvement of education in the country. He said our younger generation is our asset and we are proud of their achievement.

Tariq Mahmood Khetran

BARKHAN: Veteran politician and former provincial minister Tariq Mahmood Khetran has said that test and interviews for Levies posts have been conducted against merit in Barkhan. From day one these tests were held on basis of ‘sifarish’ and there was open cheating. He said instead of real candidates duplicate candidates appeared in the test and interview. He said so called committee continued its work silently to complete its mission and its clear proof can be seen on social media. It is injustice with youth of Barkhan and he strongly condemns it.

He demanded of Balcohsitna Chief Misnite rAbdu Quddus Bizenjo, Home Minsiter Sarfraz Bugti and Chief Secretary to cancel this test interview and hold them again under an honest committee and Pak Army supervision so that youth get justice.

Tariq Khetran said on Barkhan levies post highly educated youngsters have taken test and interview. He said Barkhan is a backward district and injustice has been committed with youth here which we would not tolerate.

SU announces schedule of MPhil and PhD seminars

HYDERABAD: University of Sindh, Jamshoro on Friday announced the schedule for MPhil and PhD seminars.

According to announcement by The Dean Faculty of Islamic Culture, the final PhD seminars of their three scholars, Aziz Mehmood Ansari, Khair Mohammad and Asif Memon will be conducted on 26 Feb 2018, while the seminar for another scholar, Mohammad Yousuf Banbhanr, will be held on 27 Feb at Nelson Mandela Hall, Department of International Relations.

The Dean Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration said that the final MPhil seminars of their three scholars, Hamida, Abdul JabarTunio and Quratul Ain Sheikh will be held on 27 Feb 2018 at the Institute of Commerce.

Their supervisors will also be present on the occasion. Both the Deans have invited all interested research scholars and teachers to attend these seminars.

KP Assembly passes LG (Amendment) Bill, 2018

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly passed two bills on Wednesday including the KP Local Government (Amendment) Bill, 2018, observes Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in its daily factsheet.

The KP Assembly met for two hours and 27 minutes. The sitting started at 1538 hours against the scheduled time 1500 hours. The Deputy Speaker presided over the entire sitting as the Speaker was not present.

The Chief Minister did not attend the sitting. The Leader of the House and Leader of the Opposition did not attend the sitting. As many as 24 MPAs (19%) were present at outset and 19 (15%) at adjournment of the sitting. The parliamentary leaders of JI, QWP, ANP and PPPP attended the sitting. One minority lawmaker was present during the sitting.

The House passed the KP Local Government (Amendment) Bill, 2018 and the KP Censorship of Motion Pictures (Films, CDs, Videos, Stage Dramas and Shows) Bill, 2018. As many as eight out of 15 Starred Questions were taken up for answers during the proceedings. In addition, lawmakers asked five supplementary questions.

The House did not take up two Calling Attention Notices appearing on Orders of the Day. A report on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Censorship of Motion Pictures (Films, CDs, Videos, Stage Dramas and Shows) Bill, 2018 was presented in the house.

The lawmakers raised ten points of order consuming 20 minutes of the proceedings. Two PPPP lawmakers pointed out the quorum at 1754 hours and 1800 hours. However, the Chair ignored it on both occasions. The House was adjourned to meet again on Friday, February 23, 2018.

Fasih Iqbal death anniversary

TAMBOO: Death anniversary of Balochistan’s senior and veteran journalist Syed Fasih Iqbal was observed under aegis of Dera Murad Jamali Press Club. It was marked by Due for departed soul.

President Press Club Abdul Razzaq Bangulzai, Secretary General Abdul Karim Mengal, Agha Niaz Magsi, Ayub Bhutto and others paid rich tributes to late Fasih Iqbal. They said that deceased promoted independent and impartial journalism in Balochistan. He raised problems of oppressed and suppressed nations at every platform. Till last late Fasih Iqbal highlighted right s of people with his pen. In his death vacuum created in journalistic field would never be filled in. Journalists should follow his footprints and play their role in independent and impartial journalism in the province.

4000 farmers get training in modern horticulture

Hyderabad: Introducing of new agriculture techniques is necessary to make Sindh province a grain basket of Pakistan and 4000 farmers of the province have already been given training in modern horticulture. Fourteen of these farmers were sent abroad for advanced training, said Director Sindh Agriculture Growth Project Hidayatullah Chajjro.

Talking to media here, he said agriculture provides 21percent of our GDP. He said economy of Sindh depends on agriculture and without modernizing agriculture methods a rapid progress and prosperity of this province would be very difficult.

He said they are presently focusing to boost four major cash crops of Sindh: Red chillies, onions, dates and rice. He said 112000 farmers are being covered under this program who will cultivate an area of about 66000 acres with the use of modern techniques.
