Omar Abdullah Advocates for Indo-Pak Dialogue on Kashmir

Srinagar, Omar Abdullah, Vice President of the National Conference, has urged for renewed talks between Pakistan and India to resolve the longstanding Kashmir issue.

According to Kashmir Media Service, during a public gathering in Kupwara, Abdullah called for both nations to create a conducive environment for dialogue. He pointed to the increased pro-freedom activities in areas like Srinagar, Rajouri, and Poonch, noting a significant rise in such movements compared to his time as Chief Minister. Abdullah invoked former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s words on the inevitability of neighbors, underscoring the necessity for peaceful coexistence and collaboration.

He emphasized the joint responsibility of both governments to foster conditions favorable for dialogue, reiterating his party’s commitment to peaceful resolution methods, including the contentious issue of Article 370’s abrogation.

Punjab Police Enhances Vehicle and Facial Recognition Technology in Lahore

Lahore, A pivotal meeting at the Central Police Office in Lahore, chaired by Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, convened to discuss advancements in vehicle registration and facial recognition technologies being developed in collaboration with the Punjab Information Technology Board and Safe City Authority.

According to Punjab Police, the meeting included prominent figures such as Additional IG Special Branch Zulfiqar Hameed, MD Punjab Safe Cities Authority Ahsan Younas, and Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board Faisal Yousaf. The focus was on the testing and refinement of automatic registration number plate recognition and facial recognition software. The discussions covered the effectiveness of these technologies in identifying stolen vehicles and enhancing event management systems.

MD Ahsan Younas emphasized that the new software will significantly aid in the recovery of stolen motorcycles and vehicles through its automatic identification capabilities. Chairman PITB Faisal Yousaf assured that ongoing efforts are aimed at ensuring the software’s success. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar urged the teams to expedite the finalization of the software and enhance its performance to ensure optimal results. He highlighted that the integration of modern police applications with these advanced systems would facilitate quicker recovery of stolen vehicles and improve crime control and public service delivery.

USISPF President Claims China Will Not Treat India as an Equal

Washington, Mukesh Aghi, president of the US-India Strategic and Partnership Forum, expressed skepticism about China’s intentions towards India, suggesting that the Asian giant would not regard India as an equal partner in their relations.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Aghi commented on the ongoing India-China border tensions that began in May 2020, noting that despite numerous discussions, there has been no comprehensive resolution. Indian Troops Kill Three Kashmiris in Kulgam Operation

Srinagar, Indian troops killed three Kashmiri individuals in the Kulgam district of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir today, in what has been described as a state action.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the individuals were killed during a cordon and search operation conducted by the troops in the Redwani area of the district on Tuesday. The operation also resulted in the destruction of a residential house and was ongoing at the time of the last reports.

Toronto Khalistan Rally Features Anti-India Sentiments

New Delhi, A pro-Khalistan rally took place in Toronto, marked by anti-India slogans and imagery, expressing discontent with the Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the rally follows a similar event last week attended by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, where pro-Khalistan chants were also prominent. The parade stretched over 6 kilometers and featured floats displaying images such as Modi behind bars and maps of a proposed Khalistan, urging participation in a planned referendum. Notably, Sikh leaders Paramjit Mand and Avtar Singh Pannu addressed the crowd, although key pro-Khalistan activist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun was absent.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has responded by summoning Canada’s Deputy High Commissioner, expressing dismay at the political space afforded to separatist elements in Canada. The event coincided with the annual Nagar Kirtan Parade, organized by the Ontario Gurdwara Committee and attended by Ontario Premier Doug Ford.

This rally comes amid heightened tensions, as three Indian nationals were recently arrested in Canada linked to the murder of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, pointing to international implications of the separatist movement.

Punjab Police Apprehends Fugitive in UAE, Extradites to Pakistan for Murder Charge

Lahore, In a significant operation led by the Punjab Police, a fugitive involved in a kidnapping and murder case in Toba Tek Singh was arrested in the United Arab Emirates and subsequently extradited to Pakistan.

According to Punjab Police, the operation was executed under the directives of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar as part of an ongoing crackdown to apprehend dangerous criminals hiding abroad. The fugitive, Nadeem Ashraf, was wanted for a 2022 crime where he kidnapped and murdered a citizen in the Pir Mahal police jurisdiction of District Toba Tek Singh. After committing the crime, Ashraf fled to the UAE where he was located following the issuance of a red notice by Interpol. The extradition was completed after necessary legal procedures, marking a significant achievement in Punjab Police’s efforts to combat criminal activities.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar praised the successful operation and urged for continued collaboration with Interpol, the Federal Investigation Agency, and other departments to bring more criminals to justice. This arrest is part of a broader strategy that has led to the arrest of 30 proclaimed offenders from abroad this year.

Promotion Board Meeting Scheduled for Punjab Police Inspectors

Lahore, The Punjab Police has announced that a promotion board meeting will be held on May 14 to consider the advancement of inspectors to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). This meeting is part of a broader initiative to enhance the professional growth and motivation among the police force.

According to Punjab Police, the meeting will be presided over by Additional IG Punjab Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry, with DIG Headquarters and DIG Establishment One also in attendance. Approximately 200 inspectors are under consideration for promotion to 25 available DSP positions.

Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized that promotion is a fundamental right of every employee and is crucial for maintaining the morale and service commitment of the police force.
