80 villages affected as Rohri Canal suffers breach near Nawabshah

Nawabshah:At least 80 villages were inundated when the Rohri Canal suffered a 200-feet breach near Bhandhi on Sunday.

As per details, the breach occurred near Yousuf Regulator, RD492 and it affected nearby villages, fields and banana orchids. Irrigation staff reached the site of breach after 5 hours and diverted the flow of breach to a nearby saline Nullah.

Heavy machinery was brought to plug the breech. However, villagers said they suffered huge losses due to the breach which was result of negligence of irrigation department officials.

4095 criminals arrested in Larkana range during 15 days

LARKANA:As many as 4095 criminals were arrested in five districts of Larkana Police Range during last 15 days in a campaign being undertaken on the directives of IGP Sindh.

It was said in a press release issued from the office of Deputy Inspector General of Police, Larkana. These criminals include 2103 proclaimed offenders and 1992 absconders. Larkana Police Rang further claimed that cops in the range secured first position in the province in arresting wanted offenders of law.

The DIGP has directed his subordinates throughout the range to further accelerate and intensify their efforts to bring all those wanted criminals to justice who are still at large.

Policeman killed in robbery attempt

GHOTKI:A police sub-inspector was shot dead by robbers on resistance in SITE Superhighway area of the metropolis in the wee hours of Saturday.

According to rescue sources, two armed robbers riding a motorbike intercepted a 50-year-old Ghulam Qadir, son of Abdul Jabbar, in SITE Superhighway, but he offered them resistance on which the robbers opened fire on him. As a result, he suffered severe bullet injuries and died on the spot.

The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

PIA plane skids off runway during landing in Gilgit Airport

GILGIT:An ATR plan of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) skidded off the runway while making attempt to land here at Gilgit airport on Saturday.

According to details, PIA flight PK-605 with 54 passengers, including six children and four crew members, on board skidded off the runway after landing at Gilgit airport at 8:00 am. All passengers and crew remained safe.

PIA official talking to PPI said all the passenger and crew remained safe and unhurt in the incident. He said airport fire crews and rescue teams were despatched one minute after the incident, adding that emergency vehicles were also arrived soon to assist passengers moving away from the plane.

He said flight schedule of planes from Gilgit to Islamabad has been cancelled and an inquiry has been ordered, the official added.

Three held, smuggled oil recovered

LARKANA:Police arrested here Saturday three accused and recovered smuggled Iranian oil.

The cops of University Police Station led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khalil Masan conducted a raid on an Ice Factory at village Khair Muhammad Areeja and arrested three accused namely Taha alias Sunny Areejo, Waris Areejo and Umar Areejo.

Masan told newsmen that he also recovered an oil tanker filled with smuggled Iranian patrol and also confiscated one car from the factory.

A case was registered against the accused and further probe was under way.

Problems of Sindh to be resolved soon: governor

Tando Muhammad Khan:Sindh Governor Imran Ismaeel has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan during his meeting with the US President Donald Trump will raise Kashmir issue and this visit will prove very important.

He was talking to media persons in Tando Muhammad Khan on Saturday.

To a question, the Governor said that the NAB is an independent institution and it will be better to let it continue its work independently.

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has assigned him a special task to serve the people of Sindh and the people will soon observe the change.

Replying to another question he said that he will discuss the water shortage issue of Sindh with Prime Minister.

He further said he will also have a meeting with Sindh Chief Minister to address the problem of water shortage in Badin, Thatta and other areas of province.

The Governor said the issue of gas load shedding in the province will also be taken up with prime minister.

Two more Ratodero children found HIV-positive

LARKANA:Out of 136 adult HIV positive cases detected in Ratodero who have so far reported at the HIV/AIDS Treatment and Care Center in Larkana, 129 have been put on ARV who are getting all treatment facilities and including medicines free of cost but seven people are still left behind.

In Ratodero 171 adult HIV cases were detected up to Friday, 19th July. was revealed by the incharge of the Center Dr. Hola Ram while talking to PPI news agency on Saturday.

In Ratodero, two more children were detected HIV positive when blood of 60 persons was tested bringing the toll of affected children to 775. Blood screening camp was started at Taluka Headquarter Hospital here on April 25, 2019.

On the other hand Sindh AIDS Control Program (SACP) has failed to launch vigorous campaign to make awareness among the residents of Ratodero and its adjoining areas where a large number of HIV positive children has already been detected.

Meanwhile, it has bewasen learnt that there is no expert of HIV/AIDS either in Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University or Chandka Medical College who can deal with the HIV cases.

A senior doctor said that there is no HIV/AIDS expert in Pakistan, what to talk of Sindh. He said those who were trained have retired from government service and do not want to serve due to wrong policies of the rulers.
