ISPR: (Pak Army, PAF test joint conventional fire power capability)

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army and Air Force tested their joint conventional fire power capability in Central Command exercise at Jhelum firing ranges.

According to ISPR, Commander Central Command Lt General Azhar Saleh Abbasi briefed the audience about aims, objectives and conduct of the exercise.

Various concepts related to integration of firepower assets like PAF, Artillery, Air Defence, SSG, Army Aviation, Infantry and Armour in support of offensive and defensive manoeuvres in a Conventional War were practiced, perfected and validated during the exercise.

Chief of General Staff Pakistan Army Lieutenant General Bilal Akbar witnessed the concluding event as chief guest.

OIC: (OIC calls for resolving conflicts through negotiations)

ISLAMABAD: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has stressed the need for resolving lingering disputes and conflicts through negotiations and by the use of other peaceful means.

The call was made in the declaration issued on Sunday after two-day 45th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC meeting held in Dhaka.

The member states agreed that OIC Peace and Security architecture and the good offices of the Secretary-General need to be activated for the purpose.

The declaration says the OIC countries reaffirmed their principled support for the right of the Palestinian people to regain their inalienable rights, including the right to self-determination, and to the independence and sovereignty of the State of Palestine on the pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

In this context, they rejected recent US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and condemned its decision to move its embassy to the city on 14th of this month.

The OIC member states invited all members of the international community to remain committed to the status of Al-Quds al-Sharif and all related UN resolutions.

They also reaffirmed firm solidarity with the people of occupied Kashmir, who have been struggling for their right to self-determination.

The OIC member countries expressed deep concern over the recent systematic brutal acts perpetrated by security forces against the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

They reiterated support for the settlement of the Afghan conflict through an inclusive Afghan-led process of national reconciliation.

Rally: (Rally held in support of Pak Army in Taftan)

ISLAMABAD: A large number of people belonging to different walks of life organized a rally in favour of Pak Army at Taftan city of Balochistan on Sunday.

The participants, who were carrying national flags, chanted slogans in favour of Pak Army and paid homage to the sacrifices and services rendered by security forces for maintaining law and order across the country.

The rally led by Mir Haroon marched on roads and expressed full support to Security Forces for maintaining peace and stability in the country.

Dipl: (Pakistan vows to continue efforts for creating cooperative environment in region)

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reiterated commitment to continue its efforts for creating an environment that fosters cooperation and development in the region and beyond.

The resolve was expressed by Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua in her statement at the 45th session OIC Council of Foreign Ministers held in Dhaka, Bangladesh with the theme “Islamic values for sustainable peace, solidarity and development”.

The Foreign secretary said development is closely linked with peace and security and our efforts towards sustainable development must be synchronized with efforts for lasting peace.

Tehmina Janjua said without resolving disputes, the dreams of economic growth, realization of full economic potential of our countries, development as well as stability would remain unfulfilled.

She emphasized that OIC fraternity must redouble its efforts to coordinate more closely and reach out to important constituencies in the Western world to halt the negative developments that are aimed at defaming our religion.

Tehmina Janjua said Pakistan expresses full solidarity with the Rohingya Muslims and joins the international community in reiterating its strong condemnation of brutal violence and denial of legitimate rights of the Rohingyas.

About Afghanistan the Foreign Secretary said Pakistan is deeply concerned over continued strife and instability in Afghanistan as peace and stability in that country is in the best interest of the region.

She said Pakistan is closely working with the Afghan Government and the international community for reconciliation and peace in Afghanistan and fully supports Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s initiative for dialogue with Taliban.

Minister: (Enemies sponsoring terrorist activities to sabotage CPEC: Ahsan)

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal has said that enemies of Pakistan are sponsoring terrorist activities to create unrest and sabotage China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

This he said while talking to a private news channel in Islamabad. He said foreign funded targeted activities against Hazara community in Quetta are conspiracy to create chaos.

The minister said work on fencing our border with Afghanistan is being completed on fast track as it is a permanent solution to stop illegal movement on the border.

Minister: (Ahsan Iqbal survives murder attack)

ISLAMABAD: An assailant shot at and injured Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal during a corner meeting in Narowal on Sunday.

According to media reports quoting Police, Ahsan Iqbal sustained a bullet wound in his right shoulder. He was attending a corner meeting in his native city Narowal’s Kanjrur Tehsil when the incident occurred.

He was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital for initial medical assistance. He is being shifted to Lahore. The suspect has reportedly been taken into custody, according to police.

District Police Officer (DPO) Imran Kishwar said that the attacker used a 30-bore pistol to fire at Iqbal from a distance of around 20 yards.

“One of the shooter has been arrested and being interrogated by the police,” Punjab government said in a Twitter message. According to reports, Iqbal was out of danger. The arrested suspect is 20-22 years old.

Report: (Federal Govt provides facilities to FATA’s technical training institutes)

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has provided necessary facilities in seventeen technical training institutes in FATA to train tribal youth in different trades.

According to a report quoting FATA Development Authority, more than three thousand youth have been enrolled for technical training in these institutes.

Trained youth have also been provided soft loans to start their own business.
