Chinese ambassador Jao Jing calls on JI amir

Islamabad: The Chinese ambassador in Islamabad, Jao Jing, called on the Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, in the federal capital on Sunday and exchanged views with him on the Pak- China relations, the Kashmir issue, and the current situation in Afghanistan.

At the meeting spread over more than two hours, the Chinese envoy extended an invitation to the JI chief to visit his country. The two leaders had lunch together. JI deputy chief Mian Mohammad Aslam, Deputy Secretary General Mohammad Asghar and JI Foreign wing chief Abdul Ghaffar Aziz, were also present.

Welcoming the Chinese ambassador, the JI chief said that strong Pak- China relations were essential not only for the people of the two countries but for the peace and stability of the region.

He said that long term Chinese plans like the CPEC could give a positive direction to the world scenario. He assured the envoy that all conspiracies against the CPEC would be foiled through the mutual trust and the cooperation of the people of the two countries.

Sirajul Haq said that as Muslims, the JI desired the goodwill of every human being as Islam had a message of peace for every individual. He said that certain world powers were trying to disfigure Islam’s beautiful face and message based on justice and, unfortunately, some of the Muslims were also mislead by such conspiracies. However, he was confident that all conspiracies and baseless propaganda against Islam would fail.

The JI chief said that the Kashmiri Muslims had been facing Indian atrocities for the last seventy years. India had used ever y form of repression but had failed to crush the Kashmiris’ love for freedom and their demand for right of self determination. He appealed to the Chinese envoy to endeavour for the solution of the Kashmir issue with the support of the world community and other world powers.

The Chinese envoy lauded the efforts of the JI for peace, stability and the promotion of true democratic values and said that his country highly valued JI’s efforts for expansion of Pak-China ties.

Senate elections: Obtaining nomination papers starts)

ISLAMABAD: The process of obtaining nomination papers by candidates for Senate elections has started in Sindh.

Public Relation Officer of Sindh Election Commission Yasar Hameed Mughal informed media that so far seven candidates have obtained nomination papers.

Meanwhile, Provincial Election Commissioner Punjab has issued public notice for Senate election from Lahore on Saturday.

On the other hand, the Election Commission of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has finalized arrangements for holding Senate election on eleven seats.

In Quetta, the process of receiving nomination papers by the candidates for the senate upcoming elections also started today.

The polling for Senate Elections will be held on 3rd of next month.

Adviser: (Federal Govt spending over Rs3b on extension of Peshawar airport: Mehtab)

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Aviation Sardar Mehtab Abbasi has said that the federal government is spending over three billion rupees on extension of Bacha Khan International Airport Peshawar.

He expressed these views during his visit to Peshawar airport on Sunday. The Adviser directed the concerned authorities to expedite pace of work to provide better facilitate the passengers.

On completion of the project about fifteen hundred passengers could be handled at a time.

Minister: (CPEC route of peace, prosperity: Marriyum)

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a route of peace and prosperity.

In a statement prior to leaving for China on a five-day official visit, she said CPEC will not only be a source of economic and infrastructural development but will also open new avenues of collaboration in the arena of art, culture and heritage.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said Pak-China partnership under CPEC is unique in the sense that it is meant to bring the fruits of development, opportunities of employment and provision of basic amenities for people.

Day: (World Cancer Day being observed)

ISLAMABAD: World Cancer Day is being observed today (Sunday) with an aim to raise awareness among people about the disease and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment.

Theme of the Day is Together We Can defeat cancer. A number of seminars, workshops and discussions will be held to spread awareness among masses about the deadly disease.

In a statement on the day, Punjab Chief Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif said Punjab Government is taking effective measures for diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients.

NA: (Resolution of Kashmir issue imperative for global peace and stability: NA Speaker)

ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that Kashmir issue was not just a territorial dispute but a question of people’s inherent right to self-determination.

He added that brutal force and propaganda cannot gag the voice of freedom nor it can alter Pakistan’s resolute and principled stance on the issue of Kashmir.

He said this in his message at the eve of Kashmir Solidarity Day to be commemorated across Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir on February 5 to express solidarity with the Kashmiri brethren.

Referring to the future of South Asia and Kashmir dispute, the Speaker remarked that peace in South Asia will remain allusive when world’s so called largest democracy unleash brute force against the people of Kashmir.

He added that it is irony that the international community stands as silent spectator while India renege on UN resolutions and launch violence, fake encounters, enforced disappearances, rape, murders, and the use of pellet guns against defenseless population as India’s officially sanctioned policy in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He urged the United Nations and international community to ensure the implementation of its own resolutions on Kashmir and ensure its own relevance in international disputes resolutions.

Highlighting Pakistan’s steadfast support to the freedom struggle of the Kashmiri people, the Speaker reinforced Pakistan’s unwavering historic stance on Kashmir and added that the people and Government of Pakistan will continue to provide all kinds of moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmiri people at every forum.

He highlighted that six countries 1st Speakers’ Conference hosted by National Assembly of Pakistan held at Islamabad in December, 2017 in its declaration has stated that the Kashmir Issue needed peaceful resolution in accordance with UN Security Council to ensure the global and regional peace and stability.

He said that the Parliament of Pakistan is fully committed for peaceful resolution of Kashmir Issue and has passed number of resolutions against the atrocities of Indian Armed Forces in Occupied Kashmir and for rights of self determination of people of held valley in accordance with resolutions of United Nations Security Councils.

He remarked that forceful occupation of Kashmir was against the modern norms of nation state and people’s basic right to self-determination – the right to form government as per people’s aspirations free from foreign interference.

Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi also reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue to provide unflinching moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmir cause at various international forums.

He added that Pakistan is a voice of the oppressed Kashmiris and will continue to stand with the Kashmiri brethren through every thick and thin.

8 gunned down in Chagai over land dispute

Chagai, Balochistan: At least eight people were gunned down over a land dispute near here on Sunday.

As per details, two rival grouped traded firing at Barbacha area over a land dispute. As a result eight people were killed.

District administration, levies, and FC personnel rushed to the site of incident and controlled situation. Further probe was initiated. However, one person was arrested.
