NAB arrest accused in Rs44.5mn corruption

QUETTA:National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Wednesday arrested Ghulam Sarwar Bughti, Executive Engineer Public Health Engineering Department Balochistan for embezzlement of an amount of Rs44.6million.

Accused Ghulam Sarwar Bughti in connivance with other employees of Public Health Engineering Department embezzled government funds causing Rs44.6 Million loss to the national exchequer during the year 2017.

After issuance of arrest warrants by Muhammad Abid Javed, Director, National Accountability Bureau, the accused was apprehended and shifted to NAB Regional Office.

Accused would be produced before the Accountability Court for obtaining his physical remand.

Further probe in the matter was under way.

Rs1bn released for Quetta uplift

Quetta:On the directives of the Chief Minister, Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan, an amount of Rs1billion has been released for development schemes of Quetta.

According to government authorities, the released amount would be utilized for the development schemes of Quetta Package.

The Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan has directed Deputy Commissioner, Quetta to make ensure availability of land required for extension of Roads and shifting of electric polls in collaboration with QESCO authorities.

Chief Minister Balochistan has also directed Project Director, Quetta Package and authorities of NLC for expediting the development projects. The Chief Minister was reported to have said that funds for development projects would be released on priority basis and the Chief Minister himself inspect the ongoing development schemes during the coming days.

Route permits of two Quetta-Karachi coaches suspended

QUETTA:Route permits of two passenger coaches plying on Quetta-Karachi route have been suspended on the directives of Commissioner Kalat Division.

The route permits of two coaches, Al-Mehmood and Al-Jahanzaib, that were reported to have often faced accidents, were suspended for a period of three months.

Both the bus companies have been directed to furnish fitness of their vehicles and get the drivers of their coaches tested.

QUETTA:A Circular issued by the University Law College informs the students, who have submitted applications for admission in L.L.M Degree Programme at University Law College, Quetta, that their admission test would be held on February 25, 2019 at 11 am.

Boy injured in landmine blast

QUETTA:Explosion of a landmine deprived a school student of legs in district Dera Bugti of Balochistan.

According to levies, the mishap occurred at Zain Luti, an area of district Dera Bugti where one Gazain son of Murad Ali Ramezai while going to school stepped on a hidden landmine which exploded.

He was critically injured and rushed to hospital where the doctors said his both legs were damaged beyond repair.

After providing necessary treatment the injured student was shifted Sheikh Zaid Hospital Raheem Yar Khan. After explosion security forces cordoned off the area and started investigation.

CM (CM Balochistan inaugurates Spring Tree Plantation Campaign

Quetta:Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Jam Kamal inaugurated the Spring Tree Plantation Campaign by planting a sapling at Chief Minister Secretariat in Quetta on Saturday.

Talking to media on this occasion, he said that 1.2 million trees will be planted across the province during the campaign.

Jam Kamal said that under a five year project of tree plantation, more than 250 million trees would be planted throughout the province.

He said that new Forest Act will also be imposed soon to promote reforestation in the province.

The Chief Minister urged the people to actively participate in the plantation campaign.

PN recovers huge cache of hashish from sea near Pasni

Quetta:Pakistan Navy in an intelligence based operation (IBO) recovered Hashish worth $30,000,000.

According to spokesman of Pakistan Navy, the recovered hashish was handed over to Anti-Narcotics Force for taking further necessary action.

The spokesman said that Hashish was being smuggled via sea near Pasni.

Spokesman further said that the said operation was conducted under strict vigilance.

Spokesman said that the said operation showed that Pakistan Navy was active against illegal activities in the coastal belts of the country, adding that Pakistan Navy was committed to ensuring supremacy of law in the Indian Ocean.

It is pertinent to mention that last year in November, Pak Navy in an operation near Ormara had confiscated 1500 Kilograms of Hashish worth millions of dollars.
