e-Pay Punjab App launched to Improve Revenue Collection

Lahore, October 05, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Ministry of Finance Punjab in collaboration with State Bank of Pakistan, Punjab Information Technology board (PITB) and 1-Link has launched e-Pay Punjab app to improve ease of doing business and increase financial inclusion in Punjab. The launch ceremony was graced by Finance Minister Punjab Hashim Jawan Bakht, Minister Education and Information Technology Raja Yasir Humayun, Chairman PITB Azfar Manzoor and other significant personnel were amongst the guests, to formally inaugurate the app.

While addressing Chairman PITB Azfar Manzoor said that e-Pay Punjab will increase the ease of doing business and increase financial inclusion in Punjab. With the succor from PITB in provision of technology, this system is integrated with the State bank of Pakistan (SBP), and all other banks via 1Link for interconnectivity. DG PITB Faisal Yousuf gave an overview of functioning of e-Pay Punjab App.

Other salient features of this android and iOS ridden app are to choose and fill out your personal information to select the desired service and pay your taxes that include 12 taxes/levies and 4 departments under one roof. It enables the tax payer to pay their taxes in one click. Users can pay their token tax, sales tax on services, business registration fee, property tax, motor vehicle registration, infrastructure development Fee, Cotton fee, Fard fee, e-stamping and transfer of motor vehicle, mutation fee and professional tax through this one window solution.

The platform is made secure by generating one time password on sign in and sign out to the user’s registered email ID and phone number. The procedure indicates generation of challan following by payment system ID number for payment. The hassle free process of tax paying can also be paid via ATM, Mobile Banking, Internet Banking and OTC.

PITB-YASAT Launch Punjab Youth Portal

Lahore, October 01, 2019 (PPI-OT): Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) in collaboration with Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports, and Archaeology and Tourism (YASAT) has launched Punjab Youth Portal connecting youth with education, entrepreneurship, skills development, job opportunities, sports and culture on a single platform. The portal as a single youth platform contains all the information and initiatives being executed by multiple departments and entities.

Web Portal was launched by Minister YASAT, Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti and Secretary Naeem Mahboob in a graceful event held in commemoration for International Youth Day 2019 at University of Home Economics (UHE), Lahore. DG e-Governance PITB Sajid Latif, Director PITB Saima Shaikh, Director PITB Salman Amin, VC UHE Dr. Kanwal Ameen and Executive Director “Bargad” Sabiha Shaheen were also present on this occasion.

While talking to media Minister Rai Taimoor Khan said that the portal would facilitate our youth in many positive ways and will impact the society consequently and is designed to empower youth by creating opportunities in education, skill development, entrepreneurship, job opportunities, sports and volunteerism to encourage the altruistic behaviour in the young lot. DG e-Governance PITB Sajid Latif said that it is an excellent opportunity for brilliant youth to get maximum benefits out of this portal and share their feedback for further improvements in the portal. Delegation of Ministry of Climate Change and UNDP visits PITB

Lahore, September 26, 2019 (PPI-OT): A delegation of Ministry of Climate Change and UNDP visited Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) at Arfa Software Technology Park Lahore today. The objective of the visit was to educate the selected representatives from GoP/UNDP’s “Generating Global Environmental Benefits” program regarding integration of IT, environment, development, and thus enhance their commitment and capacity for playing an effective role in their domain of action.

The delegation led by Country Coordinator GEB, United Nations Development Program Dr. Saleem Janjua met with Chairman PITB, Mr. Azfar Manzoor. Director PITB Salman Amin gave an overview of various PITB projects to the participants. The session proceeded with presentations and discussions on the importance of Environmental Information Management System (EIMS) and IT for environmental data and knowledge transfer. In the end participants visited Citizen Facilitation Centre.

PITB’s Plan9 Startups Win Positions at Dunya EduFest 2019

Lahore, August 28, 2019 (PPI-OT): Two startups of Plan9, a project of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), have won the positions in Dunya Media EduFest 2019 held at Pearl Continental Hotel, Lahore. There were 50 startups from various colleges who presented their idea to industry expert judges on first day and two of Plan9 Cycle 13 startups made it to top 12 in Business Plan Competition. On the second and final day, Ingrum ID took 2nd position and Guiders at 3rd place and won Rs.15, 000-/ and Rs.5, 000 -/ cash prize respectively.

The Educational festival was arranged for students by Dunya Media Group on 21st and 22nd August 2019 at Pearl Continental Hotel, Lahore. The event benefited students from different domains in career counselling, scholarships, admissions and competitions. They held various competition among students included short film, debate, startup business plan and cooking. They distributed cash prize, shields and certificates among the winners.

The startup Ingrum ID is revolutionizing the way we exchange contact details at networking events, as the platform connects you instantly with anyone with the help of their Ingrum ID card and a mobile app. This is an all-purpose app for customizable sharing including the sharing of personalized social media platforms with a unique Ingrum code. While startup Guiders is a web app based platform for transport management and software tracking system.

Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar visited more than 30 stalls of colleges and universities. Also, experts from various industry visited the event including Provincial Minister of Irrigation, Mohsin Laghari, Commissioner Asif Bilal Lodhi, Vice Chancellor of Punjab University Dr Niaz Ahmed Akhtar, Director NAB Lahore Syed Hasnain, Chairman Educational Board Chaudhry Ismail and many others. The institutes include University of Central Punjab, The University of Lahore, Lahore Leeds University, Information Technology University, PU University, etc.

AIM-UAE Plans Facilitating Pakistani Entrepreneurs

Lahore, August 06, 2019 (PPI-OT): AIM (Annual Investment Meeting), a UAE Ministry of Economy initiative, plans to facilitate and promote local entrepreneurs in Punjab by providing them a platform to exhibit their ideas to an international community of Angel Investors and Venture Capitalists. In this regard, Regional Manager of Annual Investment Meeting (AIM), Maaz Ayub paid a two-day visit to Lahore on the invitation of Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT).

The Investment Advisory and Entrepreneurship department of PBIT engaged various Incubation centers and their Start-ups through special one-on-one interactive sessions with Mr. Maaz, with the purpose to create linkages between AIM-UAE and the local community.

Foreign investment in solar energy of approx. 20m Euro from ASPAC International is proposed by Green technology.
