Chairman, Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission chairs meeting on issues and challenges faced by cotton sector in Pakistan

Islamabad, December 03, 2019 (PPI-OT): Mr. Ahmed Yar Hiraj, Chairman, Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission (PMIC), Islamabad chaired a meeting on the issues and challenges faced by the cotton sector in Pakistan, especially the research in cotton seed development by the concerned Government Organizations. Dr. Khalid Abdullah, Cotton Commissioner gave a presentation on the issues relating to cotton crop and ginning, and suggested possible way forward as remedial measures.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Waqar Ahmad, Member, PMIC; Mr. Muhammad Javed Sohail, Chairman, Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA); Hafiz Anwar, former chairman, PCGA; and Mr. Asim Saeed, former Vice-Chairman, PCGA. The meeting discussed various bottlenecks which have decreased cotton production in Pakistan and measures to resolve problems of small farmers.
