Chief Commissioner Assures to Implement KATI’s Budget Proposals

Zubair Bilal, Chief Commissioner of Inland Revenue, LTO Karachi, during his visit to the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) today, addressed the industrialists stating that the salaried class is expected to receive relief in the budget and that the zero-tolerance policy against corruption is being enforced.

KATI President Junaid Naqi, in his address, mentioned that the absence of a comprehensive tax policy by the government is causing difficulties for taxpayers. Unjustified notices and threats of account freezing by FBR officers are increasing challenges for the business community.

Chief Commissioner Zubair Bilal assured the business community that the budget proposals prepared under KATI’s leadership would be conveyed to higher authorities. He stated that monthly meetings will be held to assist industrialists, ensuring issues are resolved through mutual consultation.

Junaid Naqi expressed concerns over the amended tax ordinance, stating that these amendments violate fundamental rights. He urged the government not to burden existing taxpayers with increased tax targets.

Standing Committee Chairman Tariq Malik stated that action should be taken against tax evaders, while FBR tends to hold only taxpayers accountable. He mentioned that the number of tax evaders within the business community is very minimal.

The event was also addressed by former President and Chairman Farhan-ur-Rehman, Ahsham-ud-Din, and Senior Vice President Ijaz Sheikh.
