Larkana:A patient died when Neurosurgery Operation Theater was forcibly locked by protesting paramedics of Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) here on Monday.

This was disclosed by the Medical Superintendent (MS), Dr. Ershad Hussain Kazmi, on his social media account. He said the OT was locked by Inayat, Ilyas, Jani, Bashir and peon Sarwar. Dr. Kazmi further wrote that seven criminals led by Munwar Mangi tried to attack the COVID-19 BSL-III Laboratory and threatened the incharge. He also cited Sindh High Court, Circuit Court, Larkana, Order in CP No: 1137 of 2015 in which it has been directed that “doctors and paramedical staff, providing services of protecting lives of people in hospitals, shall not be allowed to go on strike in any manner as same may cost life. In case of any strike, necessary legal action shall be taken against all the responsible persons.”

Meanwhile, members of civil society led by Tariq Soomro also held a large protest demonstration against the CMCH paramedics’ boycott of government duties who are constantly protesting for replacing the MS. When both sides reached face to face in Civil Hospital they started disputing, Police were immediately called who prevented any untoward incident.

On the other hand, paramedic association leaders Zamir Sangi, Munwar Mangi, Jabbar Narejo, Ghulam Hussain Langah, Ghulam Mustafa Kalhoro and others alleged that MS is destroying the CMCH which is why they are boycotting all OPD duties.

Worst affected were those poor ailing people who had reached the OPDs to get themselves examined by postgraduate doctors and obtain treatment free of cost to save their lives as major Civil Hospital OPD remained shut because paramedics did not allow any doctor to perform their legal duties. Rush of poverty-stricken patients was seen at private medical centers who are doing roaring business these days.

Another patient Ghulam Abbas died in the CT Scan today, reliable sources revealed. The citizens of Larkana have demanded that the influential mafia must be eradicated from the CMCH, this only tertiary care hospital should be allowed to run on modern scientific lines and corrupt officials must also be taken to task without loss of further time who have ruined CMCH for their vested interests.
