In a significant move to enhance the delivery of justice, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi today directed a comprehensive overhaul of the capital’s policing and investigation systems, demanding that all cases be handled strictly on merit to ensure transparency and legal compliance.
The directive was issued during a high-level meeting at the Central Police Office, attended by senior officials including the AIGs for Investigations, Operations, and Legal affairs, along with several SSPs and all zonal SPs. The gathering involved a detailed review of the police investigation framework, legal matters, security protocols, and the mechanisms for addressing public grievances.
Emphasising the need to align the investigation system with modern requirements, IGP Rizvi instructed investigating officers to prioritise the prompt and effective collection of evidence. He underscored the importance of paying meticulous attention to legal aspects to strengthen the prosecution of cases.
The meeting also highlighted that robust communication and close coordination between the investigation and legal wings are essential to prevent any procedural weaknesses that could undermine cases during court proceedings.
The police chief declared that the timely and effective resolution of public complaints is a crucial benchmark of police performance. He directed senior officers to implement further measures to improve the force”s responsiveness in this regard.
The comprehensive review also covered existing security arrangements, ongoing development projects, current reform initiatives, and the overall institutional performance of the capital’s police force.
IGP Rizvi mandated that all concerned officers must take concrete and practical steps to enhance performance within their respective domains. He stated that every officer must fulfil their responsibilities diligently to transform the city”s police into a modern, public-friendly, and professional organisation.
Concluding the session, the IGP reaffirmed a steadfast commitment to the ongoing reform process, aimed at ensuring the protection of citizens” lives and property, delivering justice, and consistently raising policing standards.
