Authorities today arrested two alleged criminals and detained 16 other suspicious individuals for verification following extensive search operations across the federal capital, the Islamabad Capital Police confirmed.
The large-scale security initiative, conducted on the special directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, is part of an intensified effort to suppress crime and clamp down on illicit activities.
During the citywide sweep, law enforcement personnel checked over 621 individuals, 313 residences, 78 shops, and 22 hotels.
Vehicle inspections were also a major component of the operation, with 299 motorcycles and 85 cars being examined. As a result, 14 motorcycles and 36 vehicles were impounded and moved to police stations for further scrutiny.
The grand combing and search operations were carried out under the supervision of SSP Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, and monitored by respective zonal Superintendents of Police.
In a statement, the SSP Operations affirmed that the objective of these measures is to “tighten the noose around criminal elements” and further enhance security across the city.
Officials noted that similar operations are being conducted throughout the district as part of an indiscriminate campaign against criminals, land grabbers, and drug dealers.
The Islamabad Police has urged citizens to immediately report any suspicious activity to their nearest police station or by calling the ‘Pucaar-15’ emergency helpline.
