Clash between police and Soomra community in a village near Talhar, two injured including a police officer

A police officer and a youth were injured during a violent clash that erupted during a drug search operation in Wasi Adil village, prompting enraged residents to block a major road.

According to official details, the confrontation began on Tuesday when Talhar police initiated a search operation based on a drug-related tip. Law enforcement officials stated that they were subsequently attacked with bricks and sticks by members of the Soomra community.

The altercation resulted in injuries to Police Officer Azhar Jamali and a local youth, Manwar Soomro. Both injured parties were immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment.

However, Soomra community leaders, including Aslam Soomro, Abbas Soomro, and Haji Musa Soomro, presented a completely different account. They alleged that several officers, whom they claimed were intoxicated, entered their homes without a warrant, violating the sanctity of their homes and causing fear and panic among women and children. The community representatives also accused the police of opening fire.

In protest against the raid, demonstrators staged a sit-in and completely blocked the highway. The protest was eventually called off after the arrival of another police official, Riaz Soomro, and his assurance to the community that justice would be served in the matter.
