CM wants effective lockdown: Dharejo

KARACHI:Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce and Anti-Corruption and Cooperative Department Jam Ikramullah Dharejo has said that lockdown could be made successful only with the cooperation of people and business community.

“We can better protect ourselves from the coronavirus by staying at home,” he said while speaking on the occasion of a surprise visit to markets in South District last night to monitor the implementation of SOPs in Lockdown.

He said that Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah had given strict instructions to make the lockdown effective in all cases. Dharejo was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Junaid Iqbal Khan and Assistant Commissioner Aram Bagh and other officers. The provincial minister visited Clifton markets including Zamzama, Teen Talwar, Zainab Market, Burns Road, Saddar, Aram Bagh, Kharadar.

He expressed satisfaction over the lockdown situation. He further said that the district administration was strictly enforcing the lockdown situation and was gratifying that the people were also cooperating but the violation of lockdown would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Dharejo said, “Lockdown is a tough decision but it is in the public interest. There was no other way to save human lives and prevent the spread of the virus than lockdown.” He appealed to the people to stay safe in their homes during the Eid holidays and protect the lives of themselves and their loved ones.

Dharejo also requested the people and business community to co-operate with law enforcement agencies in implementing lockdown and said that only with the help of public co-operation, Sindh government could achieve its goal.
