COAS says Pakistan values brotherly ties with Saudi Kingdom

RAWALPINDI:Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa said on Monday that Pakistan values its historical and brotherly relations with the Saudi Kingdom and acknowledges its unique place in the Islamic world.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Military Adviser to Saudi Defence Minister Major General Talal Abdullah Al-Otaibi called on COAS Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa at GHQ on Monday. During the meeting, matters pertaining to bilateral interests and regional security situation came under discussion. Situation in Afghanistan and mutual cooperation were also discussed.

On the occasion, the Saudi adviser while appreciating the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces said that Pakistan’s role for regional stability, border management and situation in Afghanistan was commendable. Gen Bajwa stressed upon the urgency for swiftly devising an institutional mechanism for channeling humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan in order to avert a looming humanitarian catastrophe. He underscored the importance of peace and reconciliation initiatives in Afghanistan.
