According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, significant rain and snowfall over the hills are expected in vast areas of Pakistan including north-western Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, the federal capital and the Pothohar region.

In the remaining parts of the country, the weather is likely to remain cold and partly cloudy.

The department also advised on Sunday that hazardous conditions will persist due to fog and smog in the eastern districts of Punjab and upper districts of Sindh, which may possibly affect travel and daily routines.

Temperatures recorded in the morning from major urban centers indicated a strong grip of the cold wave. Islamabad recorded thirteen, while Lahore and Peshawar recorded twelve degrees Celsius. Karachi was the warmest with nineteen degrees. The intensity of cold was higher in Quetta, Muzaffarabad, and Murree with six degrees, while Gilgit recorded ten degrees Celsius.

In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, intermittent rain and snowfall with cloudy skies are forecast in Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian and Baramulla.

According to the temperatures recorded from the region this morning, Srinagar, Anantnag, and Shopian were at two degrees Celsius. The weather in Jammu was slightly better at eleven degrees, while Pulwama and Baramulla were at three degrees. Leh was the coldest place with the temperature dropping to minus three degrees Celsius.
