Constitutional Court Pledges Robust Stewardship on Earth Day

The Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan (FCCP) today marked Earth Day by strongly reaffirming its dedication to environmental stewardship, emphasising the protection of natural resources as a constitutional and moral imperative for current and future generations.

Aligning with this year”s global observance, the Court underscored the shared obligation of both institutions and individuals to embrace sustainable practices and foster ecological awareness. It reiterated its commitment to integrate environmentally friendly measures into its operations, including efficient resource management, reduced paper usage, and cultivating an environmentally conscious work environment.

Honourable Chief Justice Mr. Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan articulated that safeguarding the environment constitutes not merely a global imperative but also a constitutional and ethical duty. He urged citizens to adopt responsible environmental habits within their homes and daily routines.

Justice Khan further remarked that the preservation of the environment is inherently tied to public wellbeing, judicial fairness, and the rule of law. He highlighted that such commemorative occasions serve as a crucial reminder of collective responsibilities, irrespective of whether individuals are working from offices or from home. The FCCP remains steadfast in its support for national and international initiatives aimed at combating climate change and maintaining ecological equilibrium, consistent with Pakistan”s environmental objectives and international accords.
