Construction of sports complexes in Balochistan’s 33 districts approved: Sports Minister

QUETTA: Muhammad Ishaq Jamali, Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs said on Thursday that during the last two years, Sports and Youth Affairs Department remained vibrant by arranging several indoor and outdoor activities of different disciplines of sports.

Talking to PPI in his office at Block No.07, Balochistan Civil Secretariat, Quetta here on Thursday, he said that Government of Balochistan has accorded approval for construction of sports complexes in 33 districts of the province, adding that development work to construct sports complexes in 27 districts of the province was in progress in full swing while in the remaining districts, land issues created problems to get sports complexes constructed. Jamali added, “Now land issues have almost been settled and hopefully we will get it done.”

He remarked, “What we intend to do is to provide maximum indoor and outdoor sports facilities to the youth of the province in order to divert the attention of youth to positive activities”, adding that development schemes worth Rs. 200 millions, which could be considered as mega project or flagship project of sports sector of the province, were being executed in all the districts of the province.

He said that Minister for Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Balochistan, Abdul Khaliq Hazara desired to get Youth Festival, Sibbi Division arranged in Ziarat area of Sibbi, adding that youth of Sibbi, Dera Bughti, Kohlu and Ziarat areas would participate in debate competition, seminars and other healthy activities besides arranging fruit and vegetables exhibitions under Sibbi Division Youth Festival to be held in Ziarat area of Balochistan province under the auspices of Sports and Youth Affairs Department. Jamali said that persons with disabilities would also be provided the opportunity to take part in sports activities. During the first week of June, 2022, indoor and outdoor sports activities for the persons with disabilities would be arranged in Quetta, said he, adding that all modalities for the purpose had been finalized.
