The district administration of Naushahro Feroze has initiated a series of strict measures to prevent traffic accidents following the revelation that 41 people have died in road accidents over the past seven months.
The government’s response came after a high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Arsalan Saleem, which was convened on Tuesday to review the ongoing construction and repair work on the National Highway corridor from Moro to Ranipur.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials to expedite the construction activities and maintain high standards of quality. He stressed the urgent need for strict enforcement of traffic laws and the implementation of effective safety protocols to protect the lives and property of citizens.
Special instructions were issued for the installation of necessary safety measures on the National Highway. These include warning lights, comprehensive signboards, streetlights for better visibility at night, and the installation of cautionary boards every kilometer to enhance driver awareness.
The administration has mandated a zero-tolerance policy for violators of traffic laws. Authorities will issue challans (tickets) and fines, with scope for lodging a First Information Report (FIR) in cases of serious violations to prevent further loss of life.
Officials present at the meeting were informed that the primary causes of the numerous fatal accidents include over-speeding, disregard for traffic laws, and a severe lack of safety arrangements on the roads.
The meeting was attended by SSP Naushahro Feroze Mir Rohail Khan Khoso, Project Director Ghulam Murtaza Sameer, SSP Motorway Khalid Makhdumi Muhammad Usman Arif, Project Coordinator Khurram Nawaz, and heads of other relevant departments.
