Coronavirus takes two more lives in Karachi

KARACHI:Minister for Health and Population Welfare Sindh, Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho on Monday confirmed two more deaths due to coronavirus that takes the disease death toll to five in Sindh province.

She said both 52 and 66 old patients were residents of Karachi and had been diagnosed with COVID-19 three days ago. She explained that the 66-year-old patient had renal issues and was on dialysis and another 52 year-old patient had a respiratory problem. These two deaths bring the total number of deaths in Sindh to five.

Media Coordinator to Health Minister Meeran Yousuf told PPI that a total of 535 coronavirus patients had been detected across the Sindh province so far out of which 265 were from Taftan and came to Sukkur Centre, 249 from Karachi, 12 from Hyderabad, seven from Iran and came to Larkana Centre, on each from Dadu and Jacobabad.

She says that 64 people have been recovered from this viral disease in Sindh province while 182 are still under treatment in Karachi. She further informed that 205 patients were locally transmitted out of which 263 were from Karachi cases. So far 6,328 tests had been performed in Sindh so far out of 535 were tested positive.

In Pakistan, a total of 1,697 coronavirus cases have been reported till date out of them 638 were from Punjab, 535 from Sindh, 195 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 144 from Baluchistan 128 from Gilgit-Baltistan, 51 from Islamabad, and six from Azad Jammu Kashmir.

A total of 18 deaths due to the coronavirus have also been registered in the country out of which six happened in Punjab, five in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, five in Sindh, one each in Baluchistan and Gilgit-Baltistan, according to government data.

Globally, around 743,206 people have been infected from coronavirus out of them 35,425 died so far. Around 161,823 have been recovered from the disease while 25,225 are in critical condition.
