ISLAMBAD: A local court has reserved its judgement in a petition filed by the Election Commission of Pakistan seeking criminal proceedings against former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case.
Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal heard the petition on Monday. The ECP has sought the court order for the initiation of criminal proceedings against PTI Chief Imran Khan in the Toshakhana reference.
At the outset of the hearing, ECP lawyer Saad Hassan presented his arguments. He said Imran claimed that he constructed a road from the amount which he had received after selling the Toshakhana watch.
The lawyer contended that if a prime minister receives a gift, he should submit it to the Toshakhana. He said a law was made in 2018 that a gift could be retained after paying 20% amount of the actual price of the gift but the PTI government raised this amount to 50%.
The lawyer said that Rs85 million offer was made for the watch. But Imran Khan had failed to reveal how much money he got from the sale. After hearing ECP lawyer’s arguments, the sessions court reserved its judgement in the case.
