Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed strong disapproval of the large-scale hoarding of wheat in the province and announced strict penalties for those involved. Following a high-level meeting on the issue, Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered legal action against those who do not declare their wheat stocks within three days.
The Chief Minister also directed the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) to conduct continuous monitoring and inspections across Punjab to curb this practice.
Separately, government officials responsible for food security in Khanewal have been suspended for negligence of duty during the recent floods.
