Following intensive security sweeps and combing operations across the federal capital, law enforcement agencies have apprehended drug traffickers and seized significant quantities of illicit substances, including 1.65 kilograms of Ice, 1.26 kilograms of heroin, and 120 bottles of alcohol.
The wide-ranging initiative also led to the identification and processing of numerous individuals and vehicles for further verification, according to a report today.
The large-scale enforcement drive was initiated under the special directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, aiming to curb crime and address criminal elements within the city. These systematic checks were conducted under the direct supervision of SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza, with continuous monitoring by respective zonal Superintendents of Police.
During these comprehensive operations, a total of 486 individuals were thoroughly inspected, alongside 191 households, 28 hotels, 35 shops, 216 motorcycles, and 52 vehicles. The extensive scrutiny aimed to foster a more secure environment throughout the district.
As a direct outcome of these efforts, four proclaimed offenders and individuals who had absconded from justice were identified. Furthermore, 59 suspicious individuals, one vehicle, and 16 motorcycles were transferred to police stations for detailed verification processes.
The crackdown specifically targeted illicit drug trade, resulting in multiple arrests of individuals involved in drug trafficking. The recovered narcotics consisted of 1650 grams of Ice, 1260 grams of heroin, and 120 bottles of liquor, underscoring the police”s success in disrupting the supply chain of illegal substances.
Commenting on the initiative, SSP Operations Islamabad affirmed that the primary objective of these security operations is to tighten controls over lawbreakers and significantly enhance security levels across the city. He reiterated that such concerted efforts are continuously being deployed across various localities of the district.
The Islamabad Police remains steadfast in its commitment to taking decisive and impartial action against all forms of criminal activity, including those perpetrated by land grabbers and drug dealers, as part of an ongoing drive to maintain law and order.
