Crime – Top Investigator Demands Swift Case Disposal and Crackdown on Habitual Criminals

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Investigation in the capital on Sunday issued stringent directives to expedite all pending criminal cases and intensify actions against habitual offenders, demanding their “elimination from society through lawful means.”

The instructions were delivered during a high-level meeting chaired by the SSP Investigation, which was attended by zonal Superintendents of Police (SPs) and various investigation officers to conduct a comprehensive review of ongoing inquiries.

The investigation chief underscored that all cases must be handled with complete transparency and strictly on merit. He stressed the necessity of finalising these investigations at the earliest to ensure that charge sheets, or challans, are submitted to the relevant courts without delay.

A call was also made for all officers to enhance their performance and ensure strict legal action is taken against individuals involved in serious criminal activities.

In addition to clearing case backlogs, the SSP also issued instructions for more effective patrolling and proactive crime prevention measures, calling for a strengthened response against criminal elements to curb unlawful activities.

The SSP Investigation further highlighted the need to integrate modern technology into the investigative process to meet evolving requirements.

He explained that the recent restructuring of the Investigation Wing aims to improve the quality of criminal inquiries and ensure their timely, merit-based completion, with the ultimate objective of tightening the net around criminals and eradicating crime from society.
