Customs foils bid to smuggle mobile phones

GWADAR:Customs Gwadar on Saturday claimed to have foiled a bid to smuggle expensive mobile phones.

According to media cell of Customs Gwadar, 976 high quality foreign mobiles, including Apple, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Huawei and Amazon, were recovered from the hidden cavities of Hino truck at Kurkera check post on Quetta-Karachi National Highway.

Value of the seized foreign mobiles, to be smuggled from Quetta to Karachi, was reported to be about Rs13 million. The operation was conducted by the staff of Customs Gwadar deputed by Collector Gwadar Tahir Qureshi, Additional Collector Ghulam Haider and Deputy Collector on the directives of Chief Collector Customs Balochistan, Gul Rehman.

One killed: One person was shot dead in district Duki of the province on Saturday. According to levies force, unidentified armed men shot dead Muhammad Ayub, son Sultan Muhammad Luni, a resident of Killi Takri, near Haji Qaiser Khan Petrol Pump area of Duki. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Duki.
