MASTUNG: Customs Balochistan claimed to have seized betel nuts amounting to Rs 9 crore in an operation in district Mastung of the province on Sunday.
According to Muhammad Ismail, Director, Customs Intelligence, a customs team in an operation on a tip-off seized 33 metric tons of betel nuts from LPG container in district Mastung.
He said that seized betel nuts were being smuggled to other cities of the country, however, timely action taken by the customs Balochistan staff foiled the bid to smuggle the betel nuts.
The director said that during operation, no arrest could be made as smugglers managed to flee. He added that value of the seized betel nuts was about Rs 9 crore.
