Customs Thwarts Major Smuggling Bid, Seizes Contraband Worth Nearly Rs200 Million

The Collectorate of Customs Enforcement in Peshawar on Tuesday claimed to have dealt a significant blow to illicit trade networks, impounding non-duty-paid vehicles and smuggled goods valued at approximately PKR 197 million in a series of targeted operations over the past ten days.

The successful crackdown resulted in the seizure of 19 non-duty-paid (NDP) vehicles, which together have an assessed value of around PKR 110 million. The impounded fleet includes a range of popular and high-value models such as the Toyota Land Cruiser, Land Rover, Honda Vezel, Toyota Aqua, Toyota Vitz, Toyota Fielder, Honda Grace, and Jimny Jeep.

In separate actions during the same period, officials confiscated a diverse range of contraband goods estimated to be worth PKR 87.66 million. The seized items included silver bullion, fabrics, black tea, cigarettes, cigarette paper, medicines, and various auto parts.

According to a statement issued by the Press Information Department, these enforcement actions are part of a sustained campaign to curb smuggling, protect national revenue, and ensure more effective control at the country”s borders. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining strict measures and continuing its robust action against smuggling and illicit trade activities.
