DC urges officials to ensure SOPs, social distancing against Covid

TANDO ALLAHYAR: Deputy Commissioner Tando Allahyar Rasheed Ahmed Zardari said on Thursday that the third wave of coronavirus is much more dangerous than last year.

“The use of face masks and social distance is essential for people. Public transport has been completely closed by the Sindh government till May 16, 2021 while wedding halls, entertainment and tourist centers, water parks, gymnasiums, beauty parlors and shrines will also remain completely closed. Food and drink inside and outside restaurants and hotels will not be allowed while only parcels will be allowed,” he said while presiding over a high-level meeting at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Tando Allahyar.

The meeting was attended by Pak Army officers, SSP Tando Allahyar Rukhsar Ahmed Khawar, Additional Deputy Commissioner-1 Tando Allahyar Abdul Hafeez Leghari and other officials. The DC informed the meeting that apart from necessary services issued by the Sindh government to ensure implementation of SOPs, all business was closed on Friday and Sunday and business under SOPs allowed for five days till 6 pm.

He urged the business community to launch a comprehensive awareness campaign to ensure implementation of Covid SOPs and educate shopkeepers and the public about the importance of social distance, including the use of masks and sanitizers. He asked the religious scholars to ask the people coming for worship in mosques and imambargahs to perform ablutions from home and wear masks as well as keep social distance. Speaking on the occasion, SSP Tando Allahyar Rukhsar Ahmed Khawar said that this third wave of coronavirus is a very dangerous and fast spreading epidemic and if we followed the SOPs well, we would be able to defeat corona.
