DCs asked to exclude DD from project management unit

QUETTA:Abdul Saboor Kakar, Additional Chief Secretary (Dev), Planning and Development Department has asked all Divisional Commissioners of the province to exclude Director Development of their respective divisions from the project management unit for construction of sports complexes at district level of the province.

In a letter addressed to all Divisional Commissioners of the province here on Friday, Kakar stated that Monitoring and Evaluation of schemes is one of the key mandates of Planning and Development Department.

The Monitoring and Evaluation Wing and the Directors Developments in all the Divisions of the province are supposed to regularly supervise and monitor the PSDP schemes. Involving the Director Development or any of the officers of the Monitoring and Evaluation Wing of Planning and Development Department in procurement and executions of development schemes is against the mandate of Monitoring and Evaluation Wing.

Therefore, the nomination of Director Development as the member of the procurement committee or project management unit for construction of sports complexes is causing conflict of interest. He requested all Divisional Commissioners of the province that Director Development of their respective Division may not be nominated as member of procurement committees or projects management unit for construction of sports complexes at district level of the province.
