Decision to expand FIA operations to tackle rising cybercrime in Balochistan

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), in a major strategic move, will significantly expand its operational scope by establishing offices at the divisional level in Balochistan to combat the growing threat of cybercrime and other federal crimes across the province.

The Government of Balochistan, according to an official handout issued today, has committed to facilitating this expansion by providing the necessary land for the construction of FIA offices and related infrastructure.

The discussion focused on enhancing the institutional capacity required to tackle the growing complexity of digital and financial crimes. It was decided that in response to the evolving nature of online criminal activities in the modern era, the FIA’s organizational structure should be strengthened to confront these challenges head-on.

The establishment of divisional offices aims to provide citizens with accessible, local facilities for lodging and resolving complaints. This decentralization is expected to streamline the process of reporting cybercrimes and other offenses falling under the agency’s purview.

To address the shortage of manpower in the agency, it was also agreed that local individuals from Balochistan would be recruited into the FIA. This measure aims to enhance the agency’s operational strength while also creating valuable employment opportunities for the youth of the province.

During the meeting, the professional performance of the current Director of FIA Balochistan, Behram Khan Mandokhail, was commended. Both federal and provincial leaders reiterated their commitment to strengthening their collaboration, pledging to take all necessary measures to uphold the rule of law in the region and take decisive action against criminal elements.
