Against the suspension of basic amenities today, the citizens of Karachi protested under the banner of Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) at Power House Chowrangi, North Karachi. This protest was led by PDP Karachi President Abdul Hakeem Qaid, highlighting the growing frustration over the non-provision of basic services such as electricity, gas, and water.
The protest saw enthusiastic participation from Pasban leaders like Syed Rizwan ul Haq, Saleem Janjua, and others, along with representatives from civil society. Addressing the gathering, Qaid criticized the government for failing to resolve these issues. He emphasized that due to the Sindh government’s failure to provide basic amenities, there is a need for protest through public pressure.
Speakers stressed that the suspension of services has severely affected daily life, education, and public health in Karachi. Furthermore, Qaid demanded the immediate restoration of uninterrupted services from K-Electric, Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, and Sui Southern Gas Company. He also assured that the citizens of Karachi, known for their peace-loving nature, deserve to live without disruption, and PDP is committed to advocating for their rights.
The party’s stance is clear: it is the responsibility of the government and relevant agencies to resolve and alleviate the difficulties of the public, and public demonstrations will exert pressure to protect these rights.
