On the direction of Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Usman Javed, a comprehensive urban rehabilitation program has been initiated across Okara from Monday, aiming to eliminate encroachments, repair street lights, and bring large-scale infrastructure improvements.
This initiative, which is rapidly progressing under the supervision of Administrator Municipal Committee Ahmed Saleem Chishti, covers a wide range of developmental and beautification projects.
Key areas of these improvement efforts include the city’s major highways, public squares, pedestrian footpaths, and public spaces. The project also includes extensive cleaning drives, restoration of green belts, tree plantation campaigns, and large-scale painting works.
Administrator Chishti has issued clear directives to all concerned officers and staff, emphasizing that all beautification projects be completed on schedule and according to the established standards. Its stated goal is to provide residents with a cleaner, greener, and more pleasant environment.
He stated that maintaining the city’s aesthetic appeal is a “shared responsibility,” and stressed that public cooperation is essential for the long-term success of the program.
The Administrator of the Municipal Committee confirmed that efforts to enhance the urban center are ongoing, with work continuing on the renovation of walls and footpaths, along with the improvement of other civic amenities.
