Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, spearheaded a meeting Tuesday to discuss a major overhaul of the Diplomatic Enclave, focusing on development, beautification, and new amenities. The initiative comes on the heels of directives from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The high-level gathering at CDA Headquarters included senior officials such as Member Administration and Estate Talat Mehmood, Member Planning Dr Khalid Hafeez, Member Engineering Syed Nafaasat Raza, and Member Environment Asfandyar Baloch, among others. Discussions centered on enhancing infrastructure, including roadways, parking, and modern lighting. Horticulture and eco-friendly planting were also key topics.
Security improvements are a major component of the upgrade, with plans for aesthetically redesigned entry and exit gates, expanded CCTV coverage integrated with the Safe City System, and reinforced monitoring protocols.
Proposals for recreational facilities, including sports complexes and cycling tracks, were also reviewed. Further enhancing the enclave’s offerings are plans for a modern event space, food courts, and kiosks.
Randhawa stressed the importance of green initiatives, directing officials to prioritize extensive landscaping and environmentally friendly planting to elevate the Diplomatic Enclave’s aesthetic appeal. He affirmed the commitment to transforming Islamabad into a world-class metropolis, emphasizing the project’s significance in enhancing the capital’s beauty. He urged teams to expedite the work while maintaining the highest quality.
