District Council Cracks Down on Illegal Billboards in Jhang

The Jhang District Council has intensified its campaign to remove illegally installed advertising hoardings, starting Monday, citing serious threats to public safety, including traffic disruptions and accidents.

The ongoing operation is systematically dismantling unauthorized billboards installed throughout the district without the mandatory No Objection Certificate (NOC) and payment of required government fees.

The Chief Officer of Jhang District Council, Mehr Muhammad Akram Bharwana, confirmed that the move is in the public interest. He further elaborated that in addition to safety hazards, these illegal signboards also mar the city’s aesthetic beauty.

In his statement, Bharwana emphasized that the campaign aligns with the Punjab government’s policy, which strictly mandates prior approval and fee submission for any form of advertising display.

He warned that individuals and entities in violation will not only have their billboards removed but will also face legal action for non-compliance.

The Chief Officer concluded by appealing to the local business community and advertising agencies to adhere to established regulations by obtaining NOCs to avoid punitive measures.
