DMC Korangi postpone leaves of officials, staff to face rain emergency

KARACHI: Following the directives of Sindh local government minister Sayed Nasir Hussain Shah, the Korangi district on Tuesday begun its efforts to carry out rain emergencies, energetically.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Korangi, Irfan Sallam Mirwani, has imposed the rain emergency following the coming monsoon rains and postponed the leaves of officials and other staff to face emergency situations during the rain. The DC has directed Shah Faisal, Malir Model, Korangi and Landhi zones to activate their emergency control room.

The DC has also directed the officials of Korangi municipality to oversee the rain nullah and all chalking points be opened to ensure the improvement of the drainage system. He said this while supervising the arrangements to face situations of health and cleaning, the flow of rainwater, and emptying the roads after monsoon rains. The DC also directed the Korangi municipality to activate all departments and keep machines and staff on-road so as complaints of the citizens could be redressed.

Korangi Municipal Corporation’s Commissioner Ghulam Sarwar Raheputo also instructed the officials that rain emergency plan should be made more effective so as water from roads and areas be immediately removed and drainage system is ensured in all areas.
