Embassy of Pakistan Dakar, Senegal organizes reception on 23 March 2018

Islamabad, March 26, 2018 (PPI-OT):The Embassy of Pakistan Dakar (Senegal) organized a reception at a local hotel in Dakar on 23 March 2018, to celebrate 78th National Day of Pakistan. H.E. Mr. Alioune Sarr, Minister for Commerce of Senegal was the Chief Guest at the ceremony, says a press release received here from Senegal, Dakar. The Ambassador in his welcome address, highlighted the significance of the 23rd March stating that on this day the Muslims of the Subcontinent collectively expressed their will to carve out a separate homeland where they could conduct their own traditions and culture.

The creation of Pakistan within seven years of the Lahore Resolution (1940), reflected the wisdom and tenacity of our founding fathers. It was under the dynamic leadership of Quaid -e- Azam that the Muslims of Subcontinent had their dream transformed into a reality. He praised the efforts made by the Government and people of Pakistan toward consolidating democracy, stimulating economic growth and defeating terrorism. After successfully executing the “Operation Zarb-e-Azab” operation the Pakistan Army has launched operation Raad-ul-Fassad aimed at eliminating the residual threat of terrorism from Pakistan.

The relationship between Pakistan and Senegal are no on a positive trajectory, especially after the very successful visit of President Macky Sall to Pakistan in September 2016, which was truly the landmark o f our relationship. The visit was extremely purposeful as it had laid down strong ground for bilateral cooperation in various sectors, such as military cooperation, trade and investment, education, agriculture, avoidance of double taxation and cooperation in antinarcotics.

The Ambassador acknowledged the role of Minister Sarr for having co-chaired the inaugural session of the Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) held in July last year, that has paved way to enhance trade between Pakistan and Senegal. Minister Sarr reciprocated by commending the role of the Government Pakistan in extending cooperation in various sectors to Senegal. He assured that Pakistan has now a trust worthy friend in Africa.
