Islamabad: The non-resident envoys of Angola, Jamaica, Luxembourg, Uruguay, and Malta presented their diplomatic credentials to President Asif Ali Zardari in a ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr. During the event, the president received credentials from the ambassador-designates of these nations, marking a step forward in diplomatic relations.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, the ambassadors included Mr. Julio Belarmino Gomes Maiato from Angola, Mr. Arthur Williams from Jamaica, Mr. Roland Reiland from Luxembourg, Mr. Beraldo Roque Nicola Flaniguen from Uruguay, and Mr. Raymond Bondin from Malta. President Zardari welcomed the envoys and congratulated them on their appointments.
The President expressed hope that the ambassadors would contribute to strengthening bilateral ties with Pakistan in trade, economy, investment, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. The event signifies a mutual interest in fostering international cooperation and development.
Earlier, the envoys were welcomed with a guard of honor by a contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces upon their arrival at the presidential residence. The presentation of credentials is a traditional ceremony that reinforces diplomatic relationships between nations.
