Ethiopian Ambassador Urges Sialkot Businesses to Tap African Markets

Ethiopian Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker invited Sialkot’s business community to explore untapped markets in Africa, particularly Ethiopia, during his visit to the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).

The session was a collaborative effort involving the Ethiopian Embassy, Sialkot Chamber, Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce, and TDAP.

President of SCCI, Mr. Ikram Ul Haq, welcomed the Ambassador and shared insights from his previous visit to Ethiopia. He pointed out the potential of “Made in Sialkot” products in the African market, which remains largely unexplored. The Ambassador encouraged local businessmen to participate in the Single Country Exhibition in Addis Ababa from May 15-17, 2025, promising that SCCI would mobilize its members for the event.

Reflecting on past collaboration, Dr. Jemal emphasized establishing a strong bond between the Ethiopian Embassy and the Sialkot Chamber to enhance trade and investment ties. He highlighted Ethiopia’s strategic position as a gateway for Sialkot products to reach other African countries, urging participation in the upcoming High-Level Business Forum ‘Invest in Ethiopia’ on May 12-13, 2025.

He described these initiatives as golden opportunities for Pakistani businesses to forge partnerships with Ethiopian and other African stakeholders. In response, SCCI’s President confirmed the Chamber’s commitment to participate in the exhibition, aiming to strengthen trade relations between Pakistan and Ethiopia.
