Exhumation in Mirpurkhas under judicial magistrate’s supervision for Neha murder case investigation

Authorities in Mirpurkhas have intensified the investigation into the alleged murder of 22-year-old Neha Chauhan, whose body was exhumed today under the supervision of a magistrate. The process was carried out at the local railway graveyard under tight security, led by Magistrate Hina Rasheed and a 14-member medical team.

On the other hand, the agricultural sector in the region is in disarray due to fluctuating produce prices. The price of onions has soared to Rs. 200 per kg, while the price of tomatoes has plummeted to just Rs. 20 per kg due to the arrival of Iranian tomatoes. This drastic variation has severely impacted local farmers, with onion growers profiting while tomato farmers face severe financial hardship.

The crisis is exacerbated by a protest led by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam General Secretary Qari Muhammad Qasim Hangoro against the shortage of irrigation water. Farmers, angered by alleged bribery demands from irrigation officials, blocked a major road, causing significant traffic disruption. The protest, which draws attention to a five-day closure of a major water canal, is jeopardizing the cultivation of important crops like wheat and mustard, despite police attempts to disperse the demonstrators.
