Islamabad police reported on Friday that they have taken five suspicious persons into custody for verification following a large-scale search and combing operation conducted by the Islamabad Police across various areas of the federal capital.
The extensive security initiative, part of an ongoing effort to curb crime, was launched following special directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, according to a police report.
Under the supervision of zonal SPs, the grand operation involved the inspection of 191 individuals, 95 houses, and 27 shops. Law enforcement officials also checked 92 motorcycles and 13 vehicles, impounding three bikes at respective police stations for further scrutiny.
In a statement, the SSP Operations Islamabad affirmed that the purpose of these intelligence-based drives is to tighten the noose around criminal elements and enhance security throughout the city.
He added that the Islamabad Police are continuing indiscriminate actions against criminal networks, with a particular focus on land-grabbing mafias and drug peddlers in various parts of the district.
Officials have requested citizens to immediately report any unusual or suspicious activity to the concerned police station or the emergency helpline ‘Pucar-15.’
