Fawad Chaudhry’s cousin also quits PTI, returns ticket

LAHORE:As the exodus of leaders and election candidates continued in PTI, a cousin of former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry also abandoned the party on Tuesday.

Jhelum-based Chaudhry Fouq Sherbaz also returned to PTI a ticket for contesting the provincial assembly election from PP-25 constituency.

In a post uploaded on Twitter, Fouq Sherbaz said: “In view of the current situation in the country after the violent incidents of May 9, I return the provincial assembly ticket of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and strongly condemn these incidents.”

He further said he will decide his next political future after consulting his colleagues.

PTI leader and Senate Deputy Chairman Mirza Muhammad Afridi has strongly condemned the May 9 violent incidents. He said he denounces ransacking of Jinnah House, GHQ and martyrs’ memorials.

Mirza Afridi called for strict punishment to those involved in these violent incidents after thorough inquiry against them. He said the peace in the country is due to the sacrifices made by the soldiers.
