Islamabad, October 27, 2018 (PPI-OT): Federal Ombudsperson Kashmala Tariq was invited as a guest speaker by ‘UK Immigration Solutions, Pakistan’ at an “Immigration Training Session: Empowering people to maximize their potential through international mobility” held on 27th October 2018 at Serena Hotel, Islamabad. While addressing the audience, she spoke about different dimensions of women empowerment. She said that awareness precedes all kinds of empowerments as it sensitizes people especially women about their legal rights and corresponding duties.
She further said that women comprise half of the population and no real time development can take place without giving them their due share in education, economic development and enhancing their human capital. She highlighted the issues being faced by the workforce within and outside Pakistan. Furthermore, she added that after the enactment of Harassment Act 2010, it is the responsibility of every employer of an organization to ensure implementation of this Act i.e. formation of the internal inquiry committee and display of Code of Conduct at conspicuous place in their organizations. In the end, she said that there is a need to join hands at every level to remove this menace of harassment and encourage the workforce to play their active role in different spectrums of life.
