Fehmeeda Sofi’s health worsens inside Tihar jail: DeM

Srinagar, April 25, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) has said that the health condition of illegally detained party leader, Fehmeeda Sofi has worsened to the alarming level inside infamous Tihar jail, New Delhi.

The DeM spokesperson, Rifat Fatima in a statement in Srinagar said Fehmeeda, who is also the principal secretary to DeM Chairperson, Aasiya Andrabi, is suffering from different diseases inside the jail.

She said Fehmeeda, who is only 30 years old, is also suffering from joint ailment usually found in elderly people. “The only reason for this is that the jail authorities are denying them proper healthcare facility and the required medicines,” she added.

Rifat said all the three women leaders, Aasiya Andrabi, Fehmeeda Sofi and party General Secretary, Nahida Nasreen are denied medical facility inside the jail.

She said all the resistance leaders are ill-treated by Indian authorities. “The example of treatment meted out to Yasin Malik is concerning. He along with several ailing leaders is being denied the required treatment,” she said.

She appealed to the international human rights organisations and Muslim Ummah to do something for these three leaders for the sake of humanity. “It is a humane and an issue of Muslim conscience. For how long will these innocent women continue to face the humiliation and the oppression,” she questioned.
