The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) today arrested a man in Lahore for allegedly extorting 1.7 million rupees from a citizen in a work visa scheme.
According to a statement from an FIA spokesperson, the accused extorted a hefty amount from the complainant on the pretext of providing a work visa for England.
However, the accused failed to arrange the promised travel and employment abroad for the victim.
Following the fraudulent transaction, the person allegedly went into hiding, whom the agency successfully tracked and took into custody.
The FIA has now initiated a formal investigation to ascertain further details of the case from the arrested individual.
