CHITRAL: A rescue operation to take out tourists stranded in Laspur area of Chitral is underway on Monday.
The local administration, Red Crescent volunteers and local residents are taking part in the rescue operation. Last night, due to Glacial Lake Outburst Flooding (GLOF) in the streams of Laspur, several tourists and spectators who came to watch the Shandur festival were stranded there.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Red Crescent spokesperson said that the rescuers were trying to temporarily restore the highway so that the stranded people could be rescued.
