India has no ground to advocate for minority rights, a Foreign Office spokesperson asserted, citing its own track record of violations.
During a briefing today, the spokesperson responded to comments by India’s External Affairs Ministry, pointing out Pakistan’s efforts to protect minority rights as a core policy. The spokesperson emphasized that in India, minorities often face violence with approval from ruling factions, and reported systemic discrimination is prevalent.
Highlighting India’s poor record on minority rights, especially concerning Muslims, the spokesperson urged the Indian government to address its internal issues instead of projecting concern elsewhere. Concrete actions were called for to ensure the safety and well-being of minorities in India.
