Frequent halting of ambulances on highway concerns Sehrai

Srinagar,
July 13, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the
Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has
expressed concern over stopping of ambulances on highways frequently to allow
Indian Army or Amarnath yatra convoys to pass first. Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai in
a statement issued in Srinagar termed the authorities’ action as inhuman and
unforgivable.

He said
from last few days several videos have gone viral on social media and also
reported by some electronic media houses that the forces’ personnel are not
only stopping civilian traffic but even ambulances ferrying critical patients
are not allowed to proceed. He said such dictatorial restriction on public
vehicular movement to facilitate forces’ personnel and yatra convoys at the
cost of medical emergencies is highly condemnable.

Sehrai
said nowhere in the entire world one can find local population and medical
emergencies held hostage to the movements of pilgrims other than this
unfortunate part of the world. He said such restrictions also affect economy of
the territory as many financial and industrial sectors directly linked to this
highway. He also condemned the authorities for imposing restrictions in
Srinagar and preventing of people from offering Juma congregational prayers in
historic Jamia Masjid of Srinagar.
