Senior police officers have been instructed to conduct new inquiries into unspecified serious matters following a special hearing at the Central Police Office aimed at addressing grievances within the capital’s police force.
According to a police report on Friday, the session, known as an orderly room, was convened by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Headquarters, Malik Jameel Zafar, following a special directive from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi to ensure the timely and priority resolution of officer concerns.
During the hearing, personnel from across the force’s different divisions voiced a range of professional and private concerns directly to the DIG. In response, he ordered the re-investigation of the more significant cases while ensuring all other matters were handled with urgency.
On the occasion, DIG Zafar highlighted that several initiatives were already underway for the welfare of police staff, including improvements to housing, enhanced medical facilities, and efforts to raise the standard of education available to them.
Addressing the assembled officers, he affirmed that his office was always open to them should they face any difficulties. ‘We all need to work together for the betterment of this city,’ he stated.
He further emphasised that the fundamental purpose of organising such sessions is to address and resolve the welfare, personal, and official grievances of police officials as a matter of top priority.
